Coalition will use Anambra guber poll to test strength – ADC guber candidate, Nwosu
John Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, has expressed confidence that the opposition coalition aimed at reclaiming Nigeria in 2027 is working well.
Speaking to journalists in Awka on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at St Faith Anglican Cathedral—organized by his running mate Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu to mark the start of their campaign—Nwosu said the coalition will play a key role in rescuing Nigeria from collapse.
While acknowledging the coalition’s growing strength, Nwosu clarified that he is not relying solely on it to win the Anambra governorship election.
“It wouldn’t be right to say I’m banking on the coalition alone. I joined ADC before coalition talks began, but I believe the coalition will work, including in Anambra,” he said.
He highlighted that many members from other parties are defecting to ADC, and noted that the party has existed for 18 years, long before the coalition idea emerged.
On the state of Anambra, Nwosu criticized Governor Soludo’s administration, citing poor governance, ineffective tax drives, and insecurity.
“Anambra is not working. Insecurity is rising, and crude tax collection methods are hurting our people,” he said.
Nwosu promised to use technology and e-governance to address insecurity, leveraging his experience as an ICT company manager.
“Within six months, insecurity will be tackled using the SHEEMS model outlined in my manifesto,” he affirmed.
