The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, vowed on Friday to remain in office until November 11, when the governorship election is held.

Shaibu announced his intention to resume his duties as deputy governor following an Abuja Federal High Court ruling that reaffirmed his position. He made these comments during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

He accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of withholding his salary for the past year, despite Shaibu being an elected official.

Shaibu stated, “I am the elected deputy governor of this state, and the court has reaffirmed it. I will remain in this position until November 11, even though the governor has not paid me for the past year.

“I am a law-abiding citizen, and I will go to the office this morning. If they want to stop me, they can try. I will not do anything that could lead to violence. I have been maintaining peace, and the office of the deputy governor deserves its due respect.

“I will resume my duties and focus on my work. If the governor allows me to see him, I will; if not, I will still perform my responsibilities.”
