Dr. Tom Fredfish, a youth activist and prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Akwa Ibom State, has voiced deep concerns regarding the noticeable silence of key party leaders amidst the escalating feud between Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. In a statement released to NIGERIA NEWS 247on Tuesday, Fredfish highlighted the recent Appeal Court ruling that overturned the Rivers State High Court decision barring 25 former members of the State House of Assembly from holding office, which has further exacerbated the crisis.

Fredfish questioned the reluctance of PDP stakeholders such as Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), former Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar, and National Chairman Iliya Umar Damagum to take a stand against Wike. He urged them to break their silence and firmly support Governor Fubara, emphasizing that their inaction contradicts the core principles and ideals of the PDP.

He expressed dismay over what he perceives as a betrayal of democratic values by these leaders, stressing that their neutrality in the face of challenges in Rivers State undermines the party’s motto of Justice, Unity, and Progress. Fredfish criticized the leaders for failing to uphold justice by allowing defectors to claim allegiance to the PDP, failing to promote unity by not opposing Wike’s autocratic tendencies, and impeding progress by not uniting the party.

Fredfish called out Atiku Abubakar specifically for criticizing the APC-led government while neglecting to condemn undemocratic actions within the PDP ranks. He urged party leaders to show solidarity with Governor Fubara, asserting that their failure to do so is shameful. Fredfish praised Governor Fubara for his steadfastness in the face of adversity and called on PDP leadership to align themselves with the governor to combat dissent and corruption within the party.

In conclusion, Fredfish urged Ambassador Damagum and Atiku Abubakar to demonstrate true party loyalty or face condemnation for their perceived indifference to the plight of Governor Fubara and the integrity of the PDP.
