PDP in Imo State Confident of Justice at Appeal Court
Imo State PDP Confident in Appeal Court for Justice in Governorship Election Dispute.
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State expressed confidence that the appeal court would deliver justice in the ongoing legal battle over the November 2023 governorship election. Speaking to reporters in Owerri on Sunday, the state chairman of the PDP, Chidi Dike, reacted to the recent judgment of the Imo governorship tribunal affirming Governor Hope Uzodimma of the APC as the state’s governor.
Dike emphasized that the tribunal’s ruling did not align with the facts presented by the PDP to the court, and as a result, they would pursue the matter in the appeal court.
“We firmly believe that the tribunal’s ruling did not accurately reflect the true facts presented by our legal team. Our candidate, Distinguished Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, emerged victorious in the November 11 governorship election, as demonstrated by the evidence we presented. Despite our rejection of the tribunal’s decision, we maintain faith in the judiciary’s ability to rectify this discrepancy,” Dike stated.
He reiterated the electorate’s rejection of the APC candidate and their support for the PDP due to dissatisfaction with the APC’s governance in Imo State. Dike assured party members of their commitment to recovering the mandate and urged them to remain steadfast as they await justice from the Court of Appeal.
