The Presidency has issued a response following the recent defection of former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, characterized Shema’s departure from the PDP as a significant loss for the party, while simultaneously heralding it as a substantial gain for the APC.
In a statement shared on X, the presidential spokesman conveyed, “PDP’s big loss in Katsina, APC’s big gain.”
Ibrahim Shema, who served as Katsina State governor from 2007 to 2015 under the PDP, formally announced his defection to the APC. His move was symbolized by an official registration at the Shema Ward party office in Dutsin-ma local government area. He was warmly received by Katsina State governor, Dikko Radda.
During the registration process, Shema was issued an APC membership card by the state’s party Chairman, Alhaji Sani Aliyu-Daura. The membership card bears the serial number: 26551.
