Fulham Rejects Atletico Madrid’s $21.5M Bid for Alex Iwobi
Fulham have turned down a $21.5 million offer from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, Nigeria News 247 reports.
According to Africa Foot, Atletico submitted the bid earlier this week and offered Iwobi a four-year contract with a proposed annual salary of €7 million. The 29-year-old midfielder was reportedly open to a move to La Liga, but Fulham remain unwilling to part ways with one of their top performers.
Atletico had identified Iwobi as a potential replacement for Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, who recently departed the club. However, Fulham’s firm stance suggests they consider Iwobi integral to their plans for the upcoming season.
Iwobi enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign with the London club, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists across 38 appearances. In doing so, he made history as the first Nigerian player to feature in every Premier League match in two different seasons.
His contributions earned him second place in Fulham’s Player of the Season award, narrowly missing out to fellow Nigerian and defensive standout, Calvin Bassey.
