Two Nollywood Crew Members Found Dead in Car at Lagos Movie Location
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation following the deaths of two Nollywood film crew members, who were found unresponsive inside a parked vehicle on a movie set in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The deceased have been identified as lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his colleague Ayodeji Walter Odediran. They were discovered on Saturday, February 7, at the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was reportedly being used as a filming location.
A police source, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak publicly, stated that the two men had arrived early to install lighting equipment for the production. After completing their assignment, they reportedly entered a Nissan vehicle on the premises to rest while waiting for further filming activities. Concern arose later in the day when repeated attempts to reach them by phone were unsuccessful.
The source added that the production was reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.
“At around 11 a.m., a member of the production crew brought breakfast to them in the vehicle. The air conditioner was on, and both men appeared fine at the time,” the source said. “However, as filming continued, calls to their phones went unanswered. After the day’s shoot wrapped around 8 p.m., they were found lifeless inside the vehicle.”
Preliminary observations reportedly revealed signs of distress, including foaming at the mouth, while one of the victims had bloodstains around the nose and lips.
Another police source confirmed that the incident was promptly reported at Maroko Police Station, and closed-circuit television footage from the location is being reviewed. The bodies have been taken to a morgue pending further forensic examination.
Before his death, Imeh was the CEO of a lighting company and was highly regarded in the Nigerian film industry for his work on major productions such as King of Boys and music videos for top artists, including Davido.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, for detailed investigation. Autopsy and toxicology tests are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
This incident comes just days after gospel musician Matthew Ogundele, popularly known as Segun Praise, and three members of his crew were found dead inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos State, according to NIGERIA NEWS 247.
