“I’ve Never Had Any Good Onscreen Kiss” – Actor Saga Adeolu Opens Up

Saga Adeolu has expressed reservations about kissing in films, stating that he would avoid such scenes if given the choice.

The Nollywood actor made the remarks during an episode of the Nolly Icons podcast, where he addressed common assumptions about romantic scenes in movies. According to him, contrary to public perception, many actors do not enjoy kissing on screen but participate in such scenes to accurately interpret scripts.

Saga noted that despite appearing in several romantic productions, he has yet to experience what he would consider a pleasant onscreen kiss. He described the act as uncomfortable, particularly due to the physical intimacy involved.

“It is not easy to kiss another actor. It is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss. It is weird having people invade your mouth with saliva,” he said.

He further explained that such scenes are typically performed out of professional obligation rather than personal enjoyment. “It is not something we enjoy. People think we enjoy it, but we don’t. We are just doing it for the story most times. If I had my way, I won’t kiss anyone in a film,” he added, while recounting an instance where he had to kiss four different actresses on set in a single day.

The actor also argued that performers should be acknowledged for their professionalism in carrying out such roles, rather than being criticised.
