Umahi Issues Warning: “I’ll Confront Anyone Disrupting My Successor’s Leadership”
Dave Umahi Vows Support for Successor and Defends Governor Nwifuru.
Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works and former governor of Ebonyi State, pledged his unwavering support for his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and declared his readiness to confront anyone who challenges the current state leader. Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Umahi emphasized Governor Nwifuru’s deserving of respect.
Acknowledging the typical conflicts between predecessors and successors, Umahi asserted his refusal to engage in such disputes, citing divine blessings upon him. He expressed gratitude for Governor Nwifuru’s loyalty during Umahi’s transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming his commitment to defending the governor against any opposition.
Umahi lamented the avoidance of some National Assembly members whom he assisted in attaining office during the 2023 general elections. However, he highlighted Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi as an exception, openly acknowledging their relationship despite potential repercussions from Governor Nwifuru.
The minister’s experiences have led him to prioritize political friendships over mentorship, reflecting on the need for mutual respect and unity among leaders.
