There was a dramatic incident at the NEPA Roundabout in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday when an unidentified protester was attacked by youths suspected to be thugs.

According to an eyewitness named Paul, the protester had parked his Toyota car by the roadside, displayed placards on the front and back of the vehicle, and was seated in the car while playing music. The situation escalated when some local youths questioned him about the placards.

Paul recounted, “The man was sitting in his car, parked by the roadside with placards displayed. Some boys approached him, questioning his presence and the placards. An argument ensued, and the boys began to assault him with canes.”

Nationwide, Nigerians are rallying under the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria banner to protest harsh economic conditions. In Abuja, demonstrators gathered at the MKO Abiola Stadium, vowing to continue their protests until President Bola Tinubu addresses their demands.

Protesters in Abuja are calling on the president to take action, with Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, criticizing the restrictions placed on protests by court orders. He emphasized the protesters’ determination to remain active until their grievances are addressed.
