Transfer: Chelsea Midfielder Heads to Madrid to Finalize Move Following Maresca’s Exclusion
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to travel to Madrid on Monday to finalize a five-year contract with Atlético Madrid after a breakthrough in negotiations.
According to Mail Sport, the 24-year-old’s future is now close to being resolved. Atlético agreed to a £33.7 million deal with Chelsea last week and were awaiting Gallagher’s response by Sunday.
Chelsea had advised Gallagher that moving on was in his best interest after his 16-year association with the Premier League club. It is also reported that Enzo Maresca had excluded him from the first-team squad.
Negotiations advanced quickly on Sunday, and a resolution was reached in the early hours. Gallagher, accompanied by his agent Paul Nicholls, will now head to Madrid to finalize the terms, with an official announcement expected later today.
