Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani has voiced his support for the club’s decision to replace Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen with Romelu Lukaku. Osimhen’s departure from Napoli this summer led to the arrival of Lukaku, a move orchestrated by new manager Antonio Conte.
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, where he has already registered an assist. Meanwhile, Lukaku has hit the ground running at Napoli, scoring in each of his first two matches for the club.
Despite an initial setback with a defeat to Verona, Napoli has bounced back in style, securing three consecutive victories, including a dominant 4-0 win over Cagliari.
Rrahmani praised the decision to bring in Lukaku, calling it the ideal move for the former Serie A champions. He highlighted the notable differences in playing styles between Osimhen and the Belgian forward, particularly in the wake of Napoli’s emphatic win over Cagliari.
In an interview with Sky Italia, Rrahmani explained, “The contrast between the two is quite stark. In previous seasons, with Osimhen, we had a striker who relied more on running in behind the defense and less on holding up the ball. Lukaku, on the other hand, allows us to retain possession under pressure. His physicality helps us win second balls and finish our attacking plays more effectively.”
