JUSUN Suspends Nationwide Strike After Negotiations

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has officially suspended its indefinite strike, which began on June 1, 2025.

The strike was launched in protest against the Federal Government’s failure to meet several key demands. These included payment of a five-month wage award, implementation of the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000, and a 25/35 percent salary increase for workers under the consolidated public service salary structure.

JUSUN had maintained its position on the strike due to repeated unsuccessful negotiations, including several mediation efforts led by the Minister of Labour and Employment.

However, the union announced the suspension following a series of meetings and negotiations with representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, along with other relevant stakeholders. The decision was made public through a communiqué issued on June 3, 2025.
