Brazilian football icon Romário has revealed his preference between two of the game’s brightest stars, opting for Lamine Yamal ahead of Vinícius Júnior.
The former World Cup winner expressed strong admiration for Yamal’s ability, describing the Barcelona youngster as one of the standout talents of the new generation. Romário made the remarks during a recent chat with Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas.
When asked to choose between both players, Romário did not hesitate.
“I would go with Lamine,” he said. “I really like Yamal. He is one of the most talented players in the world among this new generation, and I am certain he will have an exceptional career.”
Yamal enjoyed an outstanding campaign with FC Barcelona last season, playing a key role in their LaLiga triumph ahead of Real Madrid.
The youngster’s brilliance was further recognized on the global stage, as he finished second in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings behind Ousmane Dembélé.
