#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Security operatives shoot at protesters, journalists in Abuja
As the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests enter the third day, the protesters in Abuja, gathered at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to continue with the struggle to end bad governance.
On Saturday, security personnel at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja used gunfire to scatter both protesters and journalists present at the venue.
As the protesters attempted to regroup after being initially dispersed by security forces stationed at the stadium, masked individuals believed to be from the Department of State Services opened fire indiscriminately, causing chaos and prompting many to seek shelter.
Consequently, the demonstrators dashed into the shrubbery surrounding the stadium, pursued closely by several security personnel.
Meanwhile, the remaining masked agents on site targeted a group of journalists positioned elsewhere. As these operatives drew near, the journalists hurriedly escaped, rushing to any nearby vehicles.
The masked security forces opened fire intermittently at the retreating reporters. A Premium Times journalist’s car, which was transporting reporters away from the scene, was struck by bullets in three separate areas. Additionally, gunfire shattered the windows of a commuter vehicle.
