Thierry Henry has cautioned Arsenal that their UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg clash against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday will be significantly different from their previous meeting earlier in the season.

Arsenal had previously recorded a commanding 4-0 victory over Diego Simeone’s side at the Emirates Stadium during the group phase of the competition. However, Henry believes that result will have little bearing on the upcoming encounter in Spain.

Speaking on CBS Sports, the former Arsenal striker noted that while the earlier match reflected Arsenal’s attacking dominance, the conditions and context of a knockout semi-final will present a very different challenge.

“Atletico lost at The Emirates, I think it was 4-0 in the league phase, which doesn’t tell you a lot, but it tells you it’s a game where we created, actually,” Henry said.

He added that the return fixture at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano will be a different contest entirely, warning Arsenal to expect a more competitive and tightly contested match.

“But it will be different (on Wednesday at Riyadh Air Metropolitano),” he concluded.
