Arsenal have reportedly taken a major step toward signing Argentine forward Julián Álvarez after successfully convincing the striker to consider a move to North London.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Arsenal representatives held private talks this week with the agents of the 26-year-old Atlético Madrid forward. The discussions are said to have gone smoothly, with both sides reaching a general agreement, putting the transfer close to completion.
Despite strong interest from Barcelona and Chelsea, Arsenal moved quickly to gain the upper hand in negotiations—and their proactive approach appears to have paid off.
A key factor in the breakthrough was Arsenal’s readiness to meet all requirements set by both the player and Atlético Madrid. This included financial terms as well as assurances over a smooth registration process—an area that could have complicated potential moves to rival clubs.
Álvarez is believed to have welcomed the offer, with reports suggesting he has long been keen on a return to English football in pursuit of major trophies.
So far this season, the Argentine has made 44 appearances for Atlético Madrid, scoring 17 goals and registering 9 assists. He remains under contract with the Spanish side until 2030, with an estimated market value of €90 million.
